Wisdom

The meaning of the name Sophia is “wisdom”. I think I learned this when Marc and I decided on a name for our 4th child (3rd girl). It is not the reason we named her Sophia, but it was a nice meaning none the less. I was reminded of this when Sophia started taking Seminary in high school and her teacher, Carson Dipo, told her this. Sophia came home from school one day and shared this with me. It was then that I remembered knowing this from long ago. Interesting how selecting a child’s name comes about and how that name might impact their life. Little did we know that baby Sophia would grow into such a wise young woman. Her name truly fits her. As a term of endearment, Brother Dipo came to call her “wisdom” often, instead of her name, Sophia. She liked the sentiment.

Fitting for the title of this post, today, Sophia had her wisdom teeth removed. She had been sans braces for about a year and a half and the dentist said the x-rays were showing the wisdom teeth were beginning to grow in such a way that they were pushing on her radiant smile. Time for them to go. All 4 of our children had their wisdom teeth removed by the same oral surgeon. We have been happy with Dr. Austin and his staff. It having been the 4th time in 7 years taking my children, I felt pretty comfortable with the procedure.

I had the prescriptions filled awhile beforehand, scheduled a day off work, and had placed an online grocery order pick up a couple days prior for all the soft foods. Jell-o, applesauce, mashed potatoes, pudding, pasta, etc. We were ready.

I’m happy to say that all went well and as planned. She came out of the procedure a little silly and laughing a lot. It was quite entertaining. HAHA! This got me reminiscing of our other children when they had their wisdom teeth removed. Audrey was intentionally quiet. She did not want any embarrassing videos floating around. Where’s the fun in that?! Grace just kept crying after her wisdom teeth removal. Carson said a few funny things, and Sophia just kept giggling, until we got home, then she started crying. Really, it was quite comical.

We have a few days of post procedure care then hopefully Sophia will be feeling good again….we’ll see how she does with the cheek swelling.

Here’s a walk down memory lane.
