October 2025

October was filled with many fun activities. Chandler High Homecoming for Sophia and friends, Ray Ward Fall Festival, building a tap board, the Step-Up concert, and Halloween. Here are some pictures we captured throughout the month.

Sophia and her friends decided to dress up and take pictures for the Homecoming dance (although they did not actually go to the dance). They dressed up, bought flowers and made bouquets, and went to downtown Gilbert to take photos. These girls have been friends since elementary school. It makes me happy that they have stayed close throughout the years.

I almost forgot, Sophia’s Volleyball season is in full swing, and she had a game the same day as the homecoming dance. Senior year is proving to be busy as ever.

Marc and Ginger won Best Couples Costume at the Ray Ward Fall Festival! 1980’s rockers. HAHA!

Marc and I had not dressed up for Halloween in a couple of years. This year Marc had the idea to dress up like a 1980’s rocker with the big hair wig and carry his guitar around. I decided to join him. It was fun dressing up, and it even earned us the award of “Best Couples Costume” and a gift card to Bahama Bucks.

I was asked to share my “gift of tap dancing” at the Ray Ward Relief Society Holiday Dinner. I had to take a little while to consider the invitation. It had been YEARS since I donned my tap shoes. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I am not getting any younger and will probably have less opportunities to practice and share my talent of tap dancing. I knew I did not have the mental capacity (or time) to choreograph my own holiday tap dance (though I do enjoy choreographing). Instead, I got on YouTube and found an instructor with a cute dance that I thought I could learn in the time I had until the party in November. If I was going to perform tap, I wanted the sisters in my RS to actually HEAR my taps, so I got back on YouTube and learned how to make a tap board. Marc is a great support to me and helped my build my board by cutting it down to size. I will share the end results in next month’s post!

Next up, the Step-Up Concert. This has been a favorite of our family for many years. This is the concert where the feeder elementary and junior high choirs get together and perform at the High School. Our favorite part is at the end when the combined choirs all sing the song “Why We Sing”. Our children have participated in this event at all levels. Elementary (with our good friend and elementary choir director, Mary Davis), Junior High, and High School. It always gets me a bit emotional as I reflect the growth of our children and here, we are, now at the end of the K-12 journey.

Let’s not forget the pumpkins! Grace painted a fun pumpkin and Sophia’s carving did not go quite as planned. Fun memories.

Graces pumpkin. She and Audrey painted pumpkins with friends in Provo.

On to November!
